Bio Gas
Today garbage gives you energy for tomorrow
with the rising price levels in Sri Lanka, having a sustainable lifestyle by generating own renewable energy has become a mission of many individuals. To accomplish that mission there is a trend in many households on acquiring a bio gas unit. It also gives the user fun and exciting experience. Because it generate bio gas for cooking requirement of next day by today waste or disposable garbage.
From a user friendly bio gas unit, the experience of watching yesterday’s garbage turns into today’s energy gives you humble happiness.
Sathvidu Eco 1m3 digester generates up to 500 liters of bio gas per day, equivalent to 3-4 hours of cooking, transforming organic waste into renewable energy. In simple terms you can fry potatoes chips with yesterday’s potato peels.

Your safety with bio gas
Bio gas is safer than the LP gas due to few reason. LP gas is heavier and spread around the place of gas leak horizontally. Then it remains in the same place for considerable time and can be ignited with a spark. But bio gas is lighter and goes up as soon as it is released. The result is it does not remain in the place of gas leakage and do not support to a single spark to burn. Because Methane is the primary component of bio gas, and as soon as it is released into the atmosphere, it loses its capacity to burn. Biogas diffuses upward to the sky, leaving the premises instantly, in contrast to LPG and propane, which sink to the ground and remain in a specific location.
The bio gas unit has no risk of blasting due to expansion of gas mixture. In the case of over production of bio gas above the collector capacity, the over produced gas will released to the environment without having any harm on the unit or human.
To assure your safety when you deal with bio gas unit follow below instructions.
- Do not light a fire in the system area within a meter radius.
- Do not climb on the bio gas unit/system.
- Do not use sharp objects that may damage the system.
- Do not breathe the gas emitted from the system when unloading.
- The system should be used according to the instructions only.
- Do not check the flame from any place of the bio gas system other than cooker.
- Do not open the bio gas unit alone.
Why Cooking with bio gas is safer..
The biogas generated by your unit is really far safer than the LPG (liquid petroleum gas) or propane gas for a number of reasons.
- In contrast to propane tanks or LPG cylinders, the bio gas produced by your bio gas system is not compressed.
- In comparison to gas kept in cylinders, the device only holds a little amount of gas since it is not compressed. It is little in comparison to other gas connections and too small to constitute a substantial hazard if ignited.
- 60% of biogas is made up of methane, which is lighter than air and will instantly disperse into the atmosphere if discharged.
